Deferred Real Estate Taxes

Any person entitled to claim a Homestead Exemption may qualify to defer a portion of their property taxes or non-ad valorem assessments based on the applicant's household income for the previous year.  (Defer means to pay at a later date). If household income is less than $10,000.00, taxes may be deferred in their entirety. If the applicant is over 65 years of age and income meets the Florida Department of Revenue adjusted income limitation rate, taxes can be deferred in their entirety.  A deferred tax becomes a first lien on the property. Proof of hazard insurance coverage with a loss payable to the Pasco County Tax Collector must be provided. If a change of use of the property, change of ownership, or failure to maintain insurance occurs, all deferred taxes plus interest immediately become due and payable.  Applications are available in any Tax Collector office beginning November 1st or you may request on to be mailed by contacting our office.  The deadline for filing an application is March 31st. Applications must be re-filed each year to determine continued eligibility.
